Mercy Schools Excel in 2025 PEP Exams

As we look back on the past school year, we would like to celebrate the achievements of some of our Mercy students from Mt. St. Joseph (MSJ) Prep School, Jessie Ripoll Primary School, and Alpha Primary School (APS), in the national Primary Exit Profile (PEP) exams.

PEP is a series of examinations that assess students’ academic skills and their readiness for high school. It is a placement exam which determines which high schools students will attend in the new school year. Through the Performance Task, Ability Test, and Curriculum Based Test students across the island are tested on their knowledge and skills in various subjects (e.g. Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science), as well as their quantitative reasoning skills.

Children’s performance in these examinations are testaments to their knowledge and critical thinking abilities. For this reason, we are proud to say that the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth & Information, Jamaica has listed these three schools among the 34 Jamaican schools which achieved proficiency for all students in all subject areas in the 2025 PEP exams. Additionally, MSJ Prep ranked third place among the top 10 schools in Manchester with regards to PEP performance, while APS and Jessie Ripoll were ranked 3rd and 5th place respectively among the Kingston-based schools.

These are remarkable achievements which we cannot take for granted. They are the results of years of hard work, support and out-of-the-box thinking on the part of students, teachers, and parents. At Sisters of Mercy of Jamaica, it is our honour to give young students like these the educational foundation they need for a brighter future.
